{"id":3169,"date":"2019-02-05T02:49:10","date_gmt":"2019-02-05T01:49:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spazio-news.it\/?p=3169"},"modified":"2019-02-02T15:18:47","modified_gmt":"2019-02-02T14:18:47","slug":"spanish-navy-indra-is-conducting-research-into-the-application-of-ia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/spazio-news.it\/?p=3169","title":{"rendered":"SPANISH NAVY: INDRA IS CONDUCTING RESEARCH INTO THE APPLICATION OF IA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.indracompany.com\/\">Indra<\/a> is conducting research into the application of <strong>artificial intelligence techniques<\/strong>, which emulate the workings of <strong>neural networks<\/strong> in the <strong>human brain<\/strong>, for the maintenance of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.armada.mde.es\/\">Spanish Navy<\/a> <strong>ships<\/strong> and enhancing and guaranteeing the maximum availability and optimal state of the fleet and its capability to carry out each mission in the best conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>two-year RDI project<\/strong>, known as <strong>Soprene<\/strong> and awarded to the company by the <strong>Ministry of Defense <\/strong>through the<strong> Armament and Materiel General Directorate &#8211; DGAM<\/strong>, represents the most important step towards introducing the <strong>Industry 4.0<\/strong> concept in the <strong>Armed Forces<\/strong> to date.<\/p>\n<p>The developments derived from this research will be a key part of the <strong>Future Integrated Navy Maintenance System 4.0<\/strong>, the solution that will supervise the maintenance of an increasingly <strong>digitalized<\/strong> and <strong>technologically<\/strong> <strong>advanced fleet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.indra.com\/\">Indra<\/a> will apply and study the advantages of applying these techniques on the enormous amount of data collected from ships while at sea, thanks to the thousands of sensors integrated into their equipment and systems.<\/p>\n<p>This is information stored in the<strong> Center for Supervising and Analyzing Monitored Data of the Navy- CESADAR<\/strong>, located in <strong>Cartagena<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>These techniques will imitate the ability and strategies used by the <strong>brains of<\/strong> <strong>biological organisms<\/strong> for <strong>reasoning and decision-making<\/strong>. But with the advantage of the added massive computing power provided by the most <strong>advanced computers<\/strong>. In this way, patterns that would go completely unnoticed by human beings can be detected.<\/p>\n<p>It will be possible to reinforce the <strong>predictive maintenance of ships<\/strong>, avoiding unforeseen breakdowns, increasing their availability and <strong>saving costs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This results in greater effectiveness for the entire fleet.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>ship diagnoses<\/strong> will be carried out <strong>automatically<\/strong>, reducing dependence on humans for classifying and <strong>detecting anomalies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The results will progressively improve, as the system acquires intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Operators will monitor this entire process through custom dashboards or control panels.
