{"id":4479,"date":"2019-05-20T11:51:27","date_gmt":"2019-05-20T10:51:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spazio-news.it\/?p=4479"},"modified":"2026-01-29T19:50:58","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T18:50:58","slug":"boeing-receives-ii-u-s-navy-contract-for-f-a-18-slm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/spazio-news.it\/?p=4479","title":{"rendered":"BOEING RECEIVES II U.S. NAVY CONTRACT FOR F\/A-18 SLM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.boeing.com\/\">Boeing<\/a> has received a <strong>one-year contract<\/strong>, which also includes a <strong>one-year option for 2020, to continue modernizing<\/strong> the U.S. Navy\u2019s <strong>F\/A-18<\/strong> fleet under the <strong>Service Life Modification &#8211; SLM program<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>$164 million contract<\/strong> for FY19 funds the standup of a <strong>second SLM line in San Antonio<\/strong>, Texas, complementary to the line established last year in St. Louis.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe Service Life Modification program is making great strides as we\u2019ve already inducted seven Super Hornets into the program, and will deliver the first jet back to the Navy later this year<\/em> &#8211; said Dave Sallenbach, program director -. <em>This program is crucial in helping the Navy with its readiness challenges, and will continue to grow each year with the number of jets we induct.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>San Antonio SLM line<\/strong> is scheduled to receive its first <strong>Super Hornet<\/strong> in <strong>June<\/strong>, and a total of <strong>23 Super Hornets<\/strong> over the course of this contract. The <strong>U.S. Navy fleet<\/strong> consists of more than <strong>550 Super Hornets<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>SLM program<\/strong> extends the life of existing <strong>Super Hornets from 6,000<\/strong> <strong>to 10,000 flight<\/strong> <strong>hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>early 2020s<\/strong>, <strong>Boeing<\/strong> is scheduled to begin <strong>installing initial updates to the aircraft<\/strong> that will convert existing <strong>Block II Super Hornets<\/strong> to a <strong>new Block III configuration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Block III conversion<\/strong> will include enhanced <strong>network capability<\/strong>, <strong>longer range with conformal fuel tanks<\/strong>, an <strong>advanced cockpit system<\/strong>, <strong>signature improvements<\/strong> and an enhanced <strong>communication system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The updates are expected to keep the F\/A-18 in active service for decades to come.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Boeing has received a one-year contract, which also includes a one-year option for 2020, to continue modernizing the U.S. Navy\u2019s<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":4480,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","footnotes":""},"categories":[32],"tags":[2708,172,2711,2710,2709,536],"class_list":["post-4479","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-prima-pagina","tag-block-iii-super-hornets-f-a-18","tag-boeing","tag-boeing-service-life-modification-slm-program","tag-f-a-18","tag-super-hornets-f-a-18","tag-us-navy"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>BOEING RECEIVES II U.S. NAVY CONTRACT FOR F\/A-18 SLM &#187;
