Defensive Aids Sub System &#8211; DASS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Praetorian Long Term Evolution &#8211; LTE study<\/strong> will lay the groundwork for future development work which will ensure that the <strong>Typhoon\u2019s Electronic Warfare system <\/strong>will remain one of the most advanced in the world for decades to come.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>contract<\/strong> is a key part of the wider <strong>Eurofighter Typhoon LTE study,<\/strong> which aims to identify a suite of technology enhancements for the <strong>Typhoon\u2019s weapons system infrastructure<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>&amp; propulsion<\/strong> to provide a clear road map for the future of the platform.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Praetorian DASS <\/strong>is provided by the <strong>EuroDASS<\/strong> consortium,&nbsp;which comprises <strong>Leonardo<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elt-roma.com\">Elettronica<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indracompany.com\">Indra<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hensoldt.net\">Hensoldt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It equips the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurofighter.com\">Typhoon<\/a> with advanced protection from threats including <strong>Infra-Red<\/strong>, IR or heat-seeking, and <strong>radar-guided missiles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The system is well-regarded by users and has been <strong>battle-tested<\/strong> <strong>on peace-keeping operations<\/strong> in <strong>Libya<\/strong> and <strong>Syria<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>LTE project<\/strong> will enable Typhoon to be a survivable and effective <strong>combat aircraft<\/strong> for several decades against a background of accelerating <strong>technology<\/strong> <strong>development<\/strong> by potential adversaries.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Praetorian Defensive Aids Sub System<\/strong>&nbsp;is the <strong>Typhoon\u2019s protection system<\/strong>, which integrates <strong>sensors<\/strong> and <strong>jamming<\/strong> equipment to provide exceptional <strong>situational awareness<\/strong> and a <strong>digital stealth capability<\/strong> for the Typhoon, achieved through advanced electronic deception techniques.<\/p>\n<p>The study is expected to deliver options for <strong>long-term technical solutions<\/strong> and enablers which will sustain the growth path of the platform in the <strong>future<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Options are likely to cover both improved architecture, which new capabilities can be added to in a more agile and<strong> lower-cost<\/strong> fashion, and improvements to the the <strong>exploitation<\/strong> <strong>and fusion of sensors<\/strong> to support the <strong>multi-role flexibility<\/strong> of the platform.<\/p>\n<p>A number of options will be explored and presented to the <strong>Eurofighter<\/strong> partner nations to support informed <strong>decision making<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leonardo, on behalf of the EuroDASS consortium, has received a contract from BAE Systems that will see the consortium explore<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":3599,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","footnotes":""},"categories":[32,7],"tags":[2705,1929,2892,3314,3315,669,260],"class_list":["post-6189","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-prima-pagina","category-news-dal-mondo-en","tag-bae-systems-plc","tag-elettronica-s-p-a","tag-eurofighter-typhoon","tag-eurofighter-typhoon-praetorian-defensive-aids-sub-system-dass","tag-hensoldt","tag-indra","tag-leonardo-spa"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>EUROFIGHTER: TYPHOON DEFENSIVE AIDS SYSTEM ENHANCEMENT STUDY AWARDED &#187;
