The signing also initiated the kickoff of several projects at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cmu.edu\">Carnegie Mellon University<\/a> related to <strong>strategic<\/strong>, <strong>operational<\/strong>, and <strong>tactical<\/strong> <strong>emergency<\/strong> <strong>operations<\/strong>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northropgrumman.com\">Northrop Grumman Corporation<\/a> will be supporting <strong>CMU<\/strong> research focused on decision making, <strong>robotics<\/strong>, <strong>human-machine<\/strong> teaming and <strong>autonomy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>This research agreement will allow us to move faster to initiate research projects across the breadth of the combined experience of Northrop Grumman and CMU<\/em>\u201d. Said at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spazio-news.it\">Spazio-News Magazine<\/a> <strong>Vern Boyle, vice president, advanced technologies, Northrop<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>research agreement<\/strong> will accelerate Northrop\u2019s ability to <strong>sponsor research projects<\/strong> with CMU. 5 of those projects are aligned to CMU\u2019s support of the <strong>Joint Artificial Intelligence Center\u2019s National Mission Initiative<\/strong> priority areas with an initial focus on <strong>humanitarian<\/strong> aid and <strong>disaster relief<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The projects are about getting the right information to the right person at the right time &#8211;<\/em> said <strong>Karen Metzler, strategic director, Northrop Grumman<\/strong> -. <em>Human-machine teamed first responders can optimize their decision-making and information flow across dynamic environments through a variety of platforms.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/spazio-news.it\/?s=Northrop\">Northrop<\/a> has been funding <strong>university research<\/strong> at CMU since September 2010, when CMU joined as an inaugural member of the Northrop Grumman Cybersecurity Research Consortium &#8211; NGCRC. As part of the <strong>NGCRC<\/strong>, CMU has been conducting leading edge research for over <strong>25 Northrop Grumman sponsored projects<\/strong> in <strong>critical cybersecurity<\/strong> domains including <strong>network<\/strong> and <strong>data security<\/strong>, <strong>Internet-of-Things &#8211; IoT<\/strong>, <strong>wireless<\/strong> <strong>&amp; cellular communications<\/strong> <strong>security<\/strong>, visualization of <strong>system anomalies<\/strong>, software <strong>security<\/strong>, <strong>blockchain<\/strong>, <strong>artificial intelligence<\/strong> and <strong>machine learning<\/strong> <strong>security<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Having companies like Northrop Grumman sponsor research at CMU is an important component of how industry and universities partner to support the nation\u2019s vibrant innovation ecosystem &#8211; <\/em>said <strong>J. Michael McQuade, Carnegie Mellon University\u2019s vice president for research -. <\/strong><em>Working together, we can accelerate the transformation of knowledge learned through basic research into applied commercial products.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Northrop Grumman<\/strong> will maintain its partnership with <strong>CMU\u2019s<\/strong> <strong>CyLab<\/strong>, which is focused on <strong>cyber security research<\/strong>.
