Col. John Caldwell, who is flying in his hometown. It&#8217;s also a rarity to have a THAAD launcher appear at a public space and air show. It&#8217;s going to be a spectacular event!&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In <strong>May<\/strong>, at its facility in Troy, Ala., <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lockheedmartin.com\/\">Lockheed Martin<\/a> presented the <strong>400<sup>th<\/sup> THAAD interceptor for the US Army<\/strong>. THAAD is a key element of the <strong>Ballistic Missile Defense System &#8211; BMDS<\/strong> and is highly effective at protecting <strong>military<\/strong>, <strong>allied Forces<\/strong>, <strong>citizen population centers<\/strong> and <strong>critical infrastructure<\/strong> from <strong>short<\/strong>, <strong>medium<\/strong> and <strong>intermediate-range ballistic missile attacks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>C-5M Super Galaxy<\/strong> is a strategic transport aircraft and is the largest aircraft in the <strong>Air Force<\/strong> inventory.
