Eurospike<\/a>, a joint venture between Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd.<\/strong><\/a>, Diehl Defence GmbH & Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH<\/a> has signed a multi-year framework contract<\/strong> for the supply of SPIKE<\/strong>, also known as MELLS in Germany, Missiles & launchers to the German Army<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“This is a significant contract for Eurospike and thus for RAFAEL, as a leading supplier of 5th generation ATGM in the world. It will undoubtedly cement the German Army\u2019s position as one of the strongest ATGM forces in Europe <\/em>\u2013 Said at Spazio-News Magazine<\/a> Moshe Elazar, EVP, Head of RAFAEL\u2019s Land and Naval Division<\/strong> -. The SPIKE missile and launcher cross-nation commonality enables the nations to manage joint SPIKE missile stocks, create joint procurement and maintain mutual support. In combination with local production within Europe by Eurospike, SPIKE is a truly common European missile.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The missiles<\/strong> and launchers<\/strong> will be manufactured in Germany by local German companies, in keeping with RAFAEL\u2019s<\/strong> global policy of teaming up with domestic industry<\/strong>, resulting in knowledge transfer and local job creation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The contract was signed by representatives from Eurospike<\/a> and BAAINBw<\/a> in a ceremony that took place at the beginning of November<\/strong> in the offices of the German MOD<\/a> in Koblenz<\/strong> Germany<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As part of the framework contract<\/strong>, the first order was made for the supply of 1.500 SPIKE<\/strong> rounds, as well as hundreds of RAFAEL\u2019S<\/a> new ICLU – Integrated Control Launch Unit<\/strong> dismounted missile launchers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The multi-year framework contract will allow the Bundeswehr<\/strong> to continue procuring additional SPIKE Missiles<\/strong> in the next few years to reach its goal of high launcher-to-missile ratio.<\/p>\n

The German Army<\/strong> is already currently using both the dismounted portable MELLS<\/strong> launcher<\/strong> as well the as the vehicle-mounted launcher<\/strong> on the German army Puma<\/strong>, Marder & Wiesel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
