{"id":5328,"date":"2019-07-09T09:38:44","date_gmt":"2019-07-09T08:38:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spazio-news.it\/?p=5328"},"modified":"2019-07-06T17:43:47","modified_gmt":"2019-07-06T16:43:47","slug":"airbus-first-rcaf-c295-makes-maiden-flight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spazio-news.it\/?p=5328","title":{"rendered":"AIRBUS: FIRST RCAF C295 MAKES MAIDEN FLIGHT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airbus.com\/\">Airbus C295<\/a>, purchased by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/\">Government of Canada<\/a> for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rcaf-arc.forces.gc.ca\/\">Royal Canadian Air Force\u2019s &#8211; RCAF<\/a> <strong>Fixed Wing Search &amp; Rescue Aircraft Replacement &#8211; FWSAR<\/strong> <strong>program<\/strong>, has completed its maiden flight, marking a key milestone towards <strong>delivery by the end of 2019<\/strong> to begin operational testing by the <strong>RCAF<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The aircraft, designated <strong>CC-295<\/strong> for the Canadian customer, took off from <strong>Seville<\/strong>, Spain, on <strong>4 July<\/strong> at 20:20 local time (GMT+1) and <strong>landed<\/strong> back on site one hour and <strong>27 minutes later<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The contract, awarded in <strong>December 2016<\/strong>, includes <strong>16 C295 aircraft<\/strong> and all In-Service Support elements including, <strong>training<\/strong> and <strong>engineering services<\/strong>, the construction of a <strong>new Training Centre in Comox<\/strong>, British Columbia, and <strong>maintenance<\/strong> <strong>and support services<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The aircraft will be based where <strong>search and rescue squadrons<\/strong> are currently located: <strong>Comox<\/strong>, British Columbia; <strong>Winnipeg<\/strong>, Manitoba; <strong>Trenton<\/strong>, Ontario; and <strong>Greenwood<\/strong>, Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n<p>Considerable progress has been made since the <strong>FWSAR<\/strong> <strong>program<\/strong> was announced two and a half years ago: the <strong>first aircraft<\/strong> will now begin flight testing; another <strong>five aircraft<\/strong> are in various stages of <strong>assembly<\/strong>; and <strong>seven simulator<\/strong> and <strong>training<\/strong> <strong>devices<\/strong> are in various <strong>testing stages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the <strong>first RCAF<\/strong> crews will begin training in late <strong>summer 201<\/strong>9 at Airbus\u2019 International Training Centre in Seville, Spain.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>FWSAR program<\/strong> is supporting some <strong>$2.5 billion<\/strong> (CAD) in <strong>Industrial and Technological Benefits &#8211; ITB<\/strong> to <strong>Canada<\/strong>, through high-value, long-term partnerships with <strong>Canadian industry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As of <strong>January 2019<\/strong>, 86 percent of key <strong>Canadian In-Service Support &#8211; ISS<\/strong> tasks have been performed in-country by Canadian companies in relation to establishing the <strong>FWSAR ISS system<\/strong>. <strong>Airbus<\/strong> is thus on track in providing high value work to Canadian industry and has demonstrated a successful start to the development and transfer of capability to Canadian enterprises for the support of the <strong>FWSAR aircraft<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond direct program participation, Airbus is generating indirect business across <strong>Canadian military<\/strong>, <strong>aeronautical<\/strong> and <strong>space industry<\/strong> including <strong>Small and Medium Businesses<\/strong> in support of the <strong>ITB program<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first Airbus C295, purchased by the Government of Canada for the Royal Canadian Air Force\u2019s &#8211;
