DES VIETNAM: HOW WE CAN SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT

Defense and Security Expo Vietnam, Hanoi 2 – 4 October 2019

Spazio-News Magazine will be media partner of Defense and Security Expo Vietnam 2019 – DSE VIETNAM 19, that will be held in Hanoi’s International Centre for Exhibition from 2 to 4 October.

We interviewed Mr OOI Teik Chai, Regional Director, EXPO SERVICES Pte Ltd in order to understand how the world of Defense & Security changes and which technological challenges will be faced.

Mr Chai, how did DSE VIETNAM 19 come about and how are you preparing for the upcoming edition?

EXPO SERVICES as the organiser of DSE VIETNAM has been monitoring the modernization and upgrading programmes of the Ministry of National Defence – MND, the Vietnam People’s Army – VPA and the Ministry of Public Security – MPS for the last four years or so. We noted continued increases in their defence and security budget allocations and many significant procurements over the same period and decided that we should work with the two Ministries to create a platform to facilitate their modernization and upgrading programmes. Our continued interactions with the Ministries over the same period developed strong working relationship and trust between us, and so the two Ministries decided that they could share our objective of launching the event to serve their needs. The Event was launched in February this year, and we are pleased that despite the short lead in period to open on 2 October, the event received fairly strong support from the industry.

Why the event is important and what should we expect for this year?

As discussed above, the two said Ministries recognized our record and achievements as an established regional defence and security event organiser, and supported our objective of launching the event to serve their modernization and upgrading programmes.

As a launch event, we are pleased to report that we expect to be filling the halls of the International Centre for Exhibitions – ICE in Hanoi on the opening day.

The technology is definitely a crucial factor to enforce the security, what are the solutions presented by companies?

The Event will bring to Hanoi the latest defence and security technologies for international suppliers and manufacturers to network with MND, the MPS and the VPA key leaders and decision makers to evaluate their modernization and upgrading requirements.

The exhibition will cover all aspects of the defence and security industry, including cyber security, to meet the expectations of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and the other security agencies.

There will be a Symposium to discuss the regional security challenges and present potential solutions to key representatives of the MND, the MPS and the VPA.

How about new geo-political scenarios and how Defense and Security Expo Vietnam can support the development of new technologies?

We are all aware of the developing geo-political scenarios in the region, and the sensitivities involved, and the event will attempt to suggest and provide technical solutions to the leaders and stake holders in Vietnam.

The event will also create business opportunities for many of the Government-linked agencies to develop joint ventures and engage in technology sharing and transfers with the participating exhibitors.

We contend that the Italy Defence Indusrty should work with the Italian Government to realise the objectives of the Vietnam-Italy Defense Policy Dialogue and Italian Companies should be strongly encouraged to participate in this First Tri-Service Defence and Security Expo to serve Vietnam.

Finally, could you please provide us an advice for who plans to attend this event?

With the objective of facilitating the modernization and upgrading programmes of the MND, the MPS and the VPA, the event will be well attended by many key representatives and decision makers of these organisations and many other security related agencies like the Police, Customs, the Immigration and border control and many others.

The event will also present opportunities for the continuing professional education and training of all the officers and personnel of the defence and security organisations and agencies around the Country.

DSE VIETNAM is an unprecedented opportunity to engage directly in intimate talks with military and security Procurement Officials from across the ASEAN-Asia Pacific to discuss their specific requirements, develop business opportunities, relationships and increase awareness for much required solutions.
